Tivrit: A Herb, Uses in Multiple Diseases

It is a perennial aromatic creeper and exudes a milky juice. Stems are long, winding, twisted, tough, and brown. The leaves are many small and oval in shape. The plant wears white flowers which are 1 to 4 inch long and has 3 to 4 branches. Fruits are round in shape and consist of shiny 2-inch-long seeds. Roots are thick, branched, and black in color. Roots are black in color, long, slender, fleshly and much branched. The plant wears the fruits and flowers from March to December.

General  Information:

In Ayurveda, Trivrit is placed in the category of very useful herbs. This herb is packed with purgative properties hence it helps to remove toxins from the body; this herb is loaded with antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties. The use of this herb is quite good in liver disorders as it helps in the cleaning of the stomach. The herb is good for various problems like flatulence, constipation, haemorrhoids, and improper bowel movements.

The root bark contains glycosidium resin which is 10%. It also contains a glycoside named a turoethin which has purgative action. Expect this it also two glycosides, volatile oils which also possess therapeutic properties.

Apart from being useful as a medicinal herb, it is also a very important herb used in Panchakarma treatment called Virechana – Purgation treatment.

Trivrit in common digestion Remedies

  1. Trivrit, Rock Salt, Pippli (long pepper) Powder, equal parts and take with lukewarm water. It will help to cure constipation.
  2. Trivrit, and Draksha Churna, take equal part, before bed.
  3. Trivrit Churna and Trikatu Churna ( trikatu comprises: Black pepper, Ginger, and Long pepper), equal part with Ghee.
  4. Trivrit, Draksha Churna (Grape powder), Haritki kwath (chebulic myrobalan) with Gaumutra (Urin Of Cow).
  5. Trivrit, Sanay churna (Sana Leaves Powder) equal part, with water.
  6. Trivrit with half amount of Sonth Churna (Dry Ginger Powder) can be beneficial.
  7. Equal part of Trivrit, Cinnamon powder, bay leaf Powder, and Black Pepper Powder, and add one tablespoon of Honey.
  8. Trivrit, 25 gm, Dry Ginger Powder, Black Pepper Powder, add some sugar mix with all in lukewarm water, it will help you to release constipation. It gives very quick results.
  9. Trivrit, Vidhara (Argyreia speciosa), yavkshar (Hordeum vulgare), Dry ginger powder, and pippali (long pepper), mix in one tablespoon of Honey and have it 2 times a day, it is very beneficial for KAPHA Dosha and constipation.
  10. Normal Constipation: Trivrit powder half tablespoon and add some sugar or Misri and take two times a day.

Trivrit in Multiple Diseases

Hyperacidity:

Soak Trivrit powder in Sehund juice, (Hedge Euphorbia) and make small pills of this wet mixture and have it with lukewarm water 2 times a day. This remedy is not for weak people.

Obesity:

Trivrit Powder with honey is the best remedy to cure Obesity.

Shoth (Edema):
  • Trivrit and Triphala Kwath, 2 times a day, with water.
  • Trivrit, Marich (Black Pepper), Pippali (long pepper), Sonth (dry ginger), Chitrak (Plumbago zeylanica). Add all ingredients to one glass of milk, boil it properly and drink.

Pandu Roga (Iron Deficiency (Anemia))

1, Trivrit Powder and double the amount of Mishri (Rock Sugar).

2, 10 Gram Trivrit and 5 gram Gokhru (Tribulus) powder mix it and take 1-1 gram of this mixture 2 to3 times a day with lukewarm water.

Heart Disease:

Take equal part of Trivrit, Kachur (curcuma zedoaria), Rasna (Pluchea ianceolata), Vad (Banyan Tree), and Kuth (saussurea lappa).  Take this mixture of 6 grams and have it with Cow urine.

Fever (Contaminated water)

Trivrit, Sugandhbala, Chirayta, Pippali, Vidang, Sonth, Kutki Churna, are all equal parts, with Honey. It will cure contaminated water fever.

Worm: Trivrit, Triphala, and Vidanga with warm water.

Parinaama Shoola (Transformation, Digestion)

Trivrit, Pippali, and harad, ad some jaggary and prepare small pills,  have it with lukewarm water.

Nadivrana (Sinus):

Trivrit powder and equal part of Triphala kwath. Take this mixture for a few days. The sinus will be cured.

Aamvat

 (A disease in which vitiation of Vata Dosha and accumulation of Ama take place in joints, which simulate rheumatoid arthritis):


Trivrit 3gram, Rock salt 500mg, and Sonth powder 500mg, take this mixture with boiled rice water (Kanji). It will cure aamvat.

Raktapitta: Trivrit churna, add some Sugar, and take with honey.
